Downtown Tulsa Photo Set

I recently had the opportunity to photograph my home city of Tulsa for a law firm website I am designing. The evening hours of Oklahoma summers presented some great skys, and in tandem with the urban skyline made for some vivid images. As a fan of architecture I captured some of my favorite buildings around the city. Projects like this remind me how much I love this city and the beautiful landscape that surrounds us.

These photographs were taken for Rhodes Hieronymus, a local law firm.

Crystal Bridges Museum

My wife and I went to Bentonville, AR for Thanksgiving, and after a huge meal, took a walk around the new Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.  The museum just opened 11.11.11 and is already receiving great feedback. We were not able to go inside, as they were closed, but the architecture and design of the grounds was enough to satisfy us on our first visit.

The nature walk into the museum meanders through the river bed past several metal sculptures and cool rusty metal bridges along the way. Also, quite striking, is a huge silver tree sculpture, a giant stainless steel sculpture resembling a tree or neuron (not sure), outside of the main entrance. There are many levels to the museum with two rivers flowing through the structure to form three ponds within.  It’s pretty striking against the natural landscape.   I can’t wait to go back and see the exhibits and finished landscaping.  I hear admission is free thanks to a generous donation from Walmart.

Tulsa City Center Plaza Photos

I’ve always been a huge fan of the Downtown Civic Center Plaza and found a quiet time to get some photos this past weekend. This is such a well designed facility in my opinion and it seems like such a shame to see it so underutilized. Many of these buildings are totally vacant since abandoned by the City of Tulsa.
